Fadeela M. Bello, a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Kebbi State, transformed her life through the WVL-N Young Women Leaders Mentorship Programme. Before joining the programme, she struggled with low self-esteem and lacked the confidence to speak in public or pursue leadership roles.

Through six months of mentorship and training on leadership, communication, and personal development, Fadeela gained the confidence and skills needed to become an active leader. As a result, she successfully contested for and won the positions of Vice President of the Student Union Government (SUG) of her institution and Vice President of the National Association of Kebbi State Students (NAKSS).

Notably, she became the first female student to serve as SUG Vice President in her institution. Today, Fadeela is mentoring other young women, encouraging them to build confidence and aspire to leadership positions. Her journey demonstrates the impact of investing in young women’s leadership and advancing female participation in decision-making spaces.

“Before the mentorship programme, I was shy and lacked confidence. Today, I can speak confidently in public and inspire other young women to pursue leadership opportunities.”
